David has been working with animals all his life and specifically
for film and television productions as well as photographers for over 15 years.
His particular interest is herptiles and invertebrates, some of which he keeps
and breeds at home. He has written three pet care books, numerous articles
and appears as an animal expert on television and radio.
"Besides my childhood obsession with animals and nature, my background
was in zoological supply, advising on and supplying livestock, including venomous
species, to zoos and institutions in Europe and the UK."
In the early 1980s David established London's leading herptile retail
store, 'The Vivarium'. So many film and television companies asked for his
help with animals from cobras to spiders that he started the Animal Ark Company,
now
the source of both animal wranglers and a consultancy service advising and
coordinating animal requirements not only for the film and television industry,
but also at events and promotions such as the Royal Opening of Shakespeare's
Globe, New Scotland Yard, State Banquet, Royal Opera and other high profile
projects.
David's reputation for animal welfare and responsibility have helped earn
him commissions from leading animal welfare organizations and he is currently
on the Content Advisory Board of www.petsonthebrain.com. Through Animal Ark
he also runs an educational service for schools and colleges.
